
H2. Radioactive Spun-Aluminum Discs. Radioactive parts of  obsolete uranium enrichment equipment lie in a contaminated scrap-metal yard at  Oak Ridge.  These 6 and 9 foot wide discs are categorized as “materials in inventory”  rather than as “radioactive waste” because this metal may be recycled to make  containers for other forms of radioactive waste.
