H4. Tuba City Disposal Cell. More than 1,100,000 cubic meters of radioactively contaminated uranium mining and milling materials were stabilized in this 50-acre disposal cell, which has a radon barrier cover and a surface layer of rock to control erosion. The original uranium mill at this site consisted of 42 acres of mill tailings, evaporation ponds, and land contaminated with windblown materials. Tuba City Uranium Mill Tailings Repository, Tuba City, Arizona. 13 June 1998.
