The official agencies that set standards for radiation safety have artfully manipulated the pivotal concepts of dose and risk to perpetuate an archaic and inaccurate understanding of radiation effects. In so doing, these organizations, to which the whole world turns for guidelines, promulgates as safe levels of exposure to radionuclides which are hazardous. This intentional corruption of scientific fact is what has allowed the nuclear establishment to pursue its agenda with impunity while leaving in its wake an epidemic of ailing victims whose health has been destroyed by internal contamination.

Established in 1990 within the United States, IEN was formed by grassroots Indigenous peoples and individuals to address environmental and economic justice issues (EJ). IEN's activities include building the capacity of Indigenous communities and tribal governments to develop mechanisms to protect our sacred sites, land, water, air, natural resources, health of both our people and all living things, and to build economically sustainable communities.IEN accomplishes this by maintaining an informational clearinghouse, organizing campaigns, direct actions and public awareness, building the capacity of community and tribes to address EJ issues, development of initiatives to impact policy, and building alliances among Indigenous communities, tribes, inter-tribal and Indigenous organizations, people-of-color/ethnic organizations, faith-based and women groups, youth, labor, environmental organizations and others. IEN convenes local, regional and national meetings on environmental and economic justice issues, and provides support, resources and referral to Indigenous communities and youth throughout primarily North America - and in recent years - globally.

The year 2008 marked the 30th anniversary of Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS). We were founded to be the national information and networking center for citizens and environmental activists concerned about nuclear power, radioactive waste, radiation and sustainable energy issues.

Proposition One is a grassroots movement for disarmament of nuclear weapons and the conversion of nuclear and other arms industries to provide for human and environmental needs. The concept was proven viable by the victory of DC Initiative 37.

RWMA is a New York City-based consulting firm established in 1989. Our expert team of scientists and engineers evaluate the impact of proposed and existent radioactive waste facilities to assist organizations that are faced with nuclear waste management issues.

Rocky Mountain Institute ® (RMI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in 1982 by resource analysts L. Hunter Lovins and Amory B. Lovins. What began as a small group of colleagues focusing on energy policy has since grown into a broad-based institution with approximately eighty full-time staff, an annual budget of nearly $12 million (over half of it earned through programmatic enterprise), and a global reach.

The LAWS Project for Nuclear Awareness (PNA) meets an important need. Founded in March, 2006,  we educate the public about the dangers of nuclear weapons and the need for nuclear disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation. We are using the strength of growing public opinion against nuclear and mass destruction weapons to educate our Washington representatives as well. We accomplish our work through various media -- e.g., books, lectures, discussions, conferences, Web site interaction, pod-casting, letter-writing, petitions, and visits to Capitol Hill or to district offices of our Senators and Representatives.

This project was completed in August 1998 and resulted in the book Atomic Audit: The Costs and Consequences of U.S. Nuclear Weapons Since 1940 edited by Stephen I. Schwartz. These project pages should be considered historical.
